Wood Engraving by Caroline Salmon - Japonica - Small print in dark brown on cream

This wood engraving print is an edition of 50,  the block is just 5cm high x 3.5cm wide. Printed in dark brown ink on cream paper. It was Inspired by  the flowers in my mother's garden. The prints are sold unframed, wrapped in cellophane.

These little prints are created using tools from my great grandfather who was a skilled wood engraver who did this professionally.

Wood Engravings are small as they are engraved on end grain Box or Sycamore. The designs are hand printed without a press, so they don’t have the indent you would find on an etching.

For info: These little prints are best framed with a double layer of mount, any good framer can cut them, although this one might be easier if left as an oblong!! All my prints have a waney edge created from the tradition of tearing the paper into the desired size rather than cutting it.
