High and Dry at Hastings - Edition of 11

This drypoint was inspired fly the fishing boats at Hastings.

Drypoint prints are created by drawing & scratching with a pointed metal implement, on a metal plate which was then inked, so that ink remains in the crevices and allowing the untouched area  to be wiped clean by a smooth cloth. The plate is then put face down on damped paper, and run through a press under considerable pressure, making an indent impression on the paper in the same way that an etching would. Drypoint plates flatten when printed, so plates created that way  only ever get used for short runs.

Printed Plate area  is 8.5cm tall x 22cm cross and is printed on cream paper.

These prints have hand torn edges and come wrapped in cellophane. The plate is also available in soft brown and blue on cream on this site.
