This is a one-off colour proof from an original plate, inspired by some delicate iris blooms, that was then aquatinted.
The image was created from a simple sugar-lift painting on a metal plate, which was then aquatinted to create different variants of depth of colour by successive burns in the acid, and then inked in a variety of green inks.
They are is individually printed on cream paper with torn paper edges. On printing the etched plate left an indent in the damp paper which measures 14.5cm high and 19.5cm across.
These prints are sold as an unframed print wrapped in cellophane allowing the purchaser to frame as they desire.
